May I suggest that we make libxml2 a compulsory dependency for 1.5? 
Otherwise we end up with the same situation where everyone has builds 
with different functionality, and so even developers can miss things in 
regression because they have different sets of options enabled? This was 
one of the motivations for making GEOS and PROJ.4 compulsory in the 
first place after all.
