Kevin, at this moment SVN server seems to be not responding, so can't check  
now.
However, I have had not experience any problems with building SVN trunk.
So yes, postgis builds for me properly on Linux using automake 1.10.2 and  
autoconf
2.63 and libtool 2.2.6.
