[postgis-devel] Is ST_IsValid OGC or not OGC?

Hi,

The manual [1] documents ST_IsValid as follows::

"This method implements the OpenGIS Simple Features
Implementation Specification for SQL."

The same manual says about ST_IsSimple this:

"This method implements the OpenGIS Simple Features Implementation
Specification for SQL. OGC SPEC s2.1.1.1"

Not very different, is it? However, perhaps the chapter number
makes a big difference and it indicates the ST_IsSimple is official OGC
function.

Back to ST_IsValid, what does that sentence above exactly mean?
Does it mean it is "based on notes from OGC spec" or does it mean it is
one of the officially documented OGC functions (as ST_IsSimple is)?

The ST_IsValid is nowhere mentioned in the following three documents:
OGC 06-104r3, OGC 05-134 and OGC 99-049.
So, the PostGIS manual is somewhat confusing to me.

I would appreciate clarification.

Best regards,
