 Nicklas,

 Could it be that you have a robustness issue in your distance algorithm? I
 remember experiencing similar problems when a fixing bugs in past, related
 to bad use of floating point arithmetic when the values are close to each
 other.

 Would you be able to step through this query on a 32-bit machine to find
 out how the error is being introduced?
