If i remember in earlier PostGIS (0.8) box was supported for AsSVG.
Then this box support was removed later, dunno why.

And right now 'only' SFS 1.1 geometries are currently
handled in export functions.

For SVG the box was interestring because it returns SVG extent
computation.

For GML what do you expect ?
Same as Polygon geometry output ?
