I wouldn't mind them being shorter either, though I imagine many e-mail 
filters will need to be modified as a result. Perhaps a larger concern 
is  how this affects the various mirrors of our message history, nabble, 
etc. I see in the mailman config that the prefix can be changed without 
changing the actual "name" of the list so that is good, at least.

I don't believe we have this level of control over the trac e-mails... 
it just uses the project name for the prefix and otherwise the format of 
the subject line is hard coded. I could be wrong but I can't find any 
documentation in Trac on how to do it.
