 Just tested GDAL 1.9.0 on Linux 64-bit and I get 42.  On Linux 32-bit w/
 GDAL 1.9.0, I get 40.  On Linux 32-bit w/ GDAL trunk r24093, I get 40
 again.

 Strange that the behavior differs depending on the architecture.
