<P><FONT SIZE=2>Just to clarify my concern. someone correct me if I am wrong<BR>

Main issue is I think PostGIS is still too young and forcing it to be in line with PostgreSQL releases would hamper its pace significantly.<BR>
<BR>
The way I see it, it would tie our GEOS and PostGIS version to specific PostgreSQL versions which would be really bad at this point.<BR>

I'm not convinced it would. You still need to do a dump reload and functions change.<BR>
Even with being baked in, I don't see this being fixed since the functions and even the underlying structure<BR>
changes.<BR>

I think we just need to do a better job of making PostGIS upgrades less painful apart from PostgreSQL.<BR>
Plus some people may need to run 1.3 and some may opt to go 1.4, this would no longer be possible is my thinking.<BR>
I personally would have a problem with some of my bigger installs.<BR>
