I verified it does the same in old installs and if you do<BR>

SELECT (ST_Dump(foo.the_geom))<BR>
FROM (SELECT ST_Collect(ST_Multi(the_geom)) as the_geom<BR>
fROM sometable) as foo<BR>

It does the same "{1,2}" so its not a new thing<BR>

I also checked<BR>

SELECT (ST_Dump(foo.the_geom)).path<BR>
FROM (SELECT ST_Collect(ST_Multi(the_geom)) as the_geom<BR>
fROM sometable) as foo<BR>
<BR>
or<BR>
<BR>
SELECT (ST_Dump(foo.the_geom)).path[1]<BR>
FROM (SELECT ST_Collect(ST_Multi(the_geom)) as the_geom<BR>
fROM sometable) as foo;<BR>

and those look as I would expect (no quotes). So I guess its some sort of artifact of the<BR>
displaying of a geometry_dump with , in the path that doesn't seem to affect<BR>
its functionality<BR>
