 Thanks to rouault here's another reference:
 https://developers.google.com/kml/documentation/kmlreference?hl=fr#point

 This one is even more explicit about spaces NOT being allowed (agreeing
 with Colivier): "Do not include spaces between the three values that
 describe a coordinate."

 Still, I think we should follow the robustness principle "Be conservative
 in what you do, be liberal in what you accept from others".
