Comment:

 It turned out there are several other big-endian related issues remaining
 in 2.1.1. For that version to pass tests successfully on all Debian-
 supported architectures, I also had to disable a few more tests that
 checked against a little-endian serialization of data.

 While I agree that's not a good way to make tests pass, it's the only
 option I saw ATM. Especially given that there seem to be a few other
 places doing the same, I guess a better solution isn't available, now.
