[postgis-users] Memory exhausted in AllocSetAlloc(32)

I try to manipulate a table with 140000 records with
 
delete from table  where archive=1;
 
 
The server breaks with ERROR: Memory exhausted in AllocSetAlloc(32). 
 
System tru64 5.1
 
with the following system limits:
putime         unlimited
filesize        unlimited
datasize        1048576 kbytes
stacksize       8192 kbytes
coredumpsize    unlimited
memoryuse       503016 kbytes
descriptors     4096 files
addressspace    4194304 kbytes
 
Any hints??
