At the UNIX prompt you'll enter your shp2pgsql commands; it outputs a lot of SQL commands which can piped to the psql tool or saved in a file (with a unix redirect, e.g." > loadshapes.sql" appended to the command) to be run later.

Subject:	[postgis-users] shp2pgsql problem

Dear users :

I visited http://www.postgis.org/docs/x405.html i.e. to load my shape files
into postgreSQL (postgis extension) database.Under the "Using the Loader"
section. it doesnt say clearly where to type these commands ii.e. in unix as
a command line argument or in postgreSQL. I have got my shape files in a
directory but have no idea how to put these into the databse.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Saurabh Data
