[postgis-users] status of topology support in postgis

Hi Marco,

Unfortunately, topology in PostGIS has been on hold for a while (since 
'05 I think).  There is a base model to work from as well as some 
supporting functions, but that's about it - very much in pre-alpha 
stage.  We would absolutely love to push this project further, but 
basically, there has been a lack of interest ... or rather, a lack of 
interest for people with pockets to help further it's development.  
Maybe that's changing :)

Also, to answer your first question, the source code is contained 
entirely in the topology.sql file (in addition to the sql files in the 
test directory).  So far, the project hasn't had the need to resort to 
C, but rather written entirely in sql DDL and plpgsql functions.
