[postgis-users] S...L...o.....w..@^ performance on SPARC/Solaris

Thanks Graeme and Paul,

I had "assumed" that ST_Within would do the (a.the_geom && b.the_geom)
for me on Solaris, and for some reason this was not the case.
Using the explicit "&&" improved the performance of the queries from 35+
secs to 3 - 5 Secs. Not great but fair enough.
The only other difference is that I am using GEOS 3.0.0 on Solaris and
GEOS 2.2.3 on Ubuntu.
In the future we will look at using Ubuntu as the PostGIS Server.
