[postgis-users] PDF version of manual?

Tim,
Strange the pdf version used to be
http://postgis.refractions.net/docs/postgis.pdf but I guess things got
reshuffled with the new documentation effort. Maybe Paul can put a link to
the current 1.3.3 somewhere. Anyrate hopefully we'll have the pdf version
back in line at some point.

There is a lot of effort currently going on to try to improve the docs. The
1.4 is very in flux, but you can get a sense of how the new layout will be
by looking at the section 7 work in progress for 1.4

http://postgis.refractions.net/documentation/manual-svn/ch07.html

The plan is to have a page for each function with examples and graphics.
Then have accompnaying pdf version also automatically built.

Kevin Neufeld setup the basic structure for the new doc layout and also has
an automated build that updates the html online docs as changes are being
made. Very cool.

Hope that helps,
Regina

It appears to be no longer there, but instead we have the manual for the
next as yet unreleased point version of postgis: 1.3.4. It is good to see
an open source project giving documentation suitable attention and keeping
it up to date (unlike many open source projects). I'm surprised though that
the documentation is released before the code. I suspect that's
unprecedented.

Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you recognize a mistake when
you make it again.
