[postgis-users] missing libxml2.la file when compiling PostGIS 2.1.1 from Source on Ubuntu 12.04

Have you tried
   locate xml2-config
and then
  ./configure
--with-xml2config=/whatever/path/to/xml2-config/you/got/from/locate
