Thanks, everybody. I’m using the example in geotools quickstart, just chaning from reading a shape file to read a postgistable.

Have a look at OpenJump (openjump.org<http://openjump.org>)
It can read a lot of spatial databases and allows to type your SQL query to visualize your data.

GvSIG is a rather complete GIS package.
As far as I know it's written in Java and has support for PostGis.
