tar and cvs versions to no avail - I think it might be the version of our gcc
which is 2.9.5 and library linking... Im working on alternatives (cygwin route)

1.0.0 tar file? It's a long shot, but you might want to try grabbing a
different set, or at least removing and re downloading the code. My
comments are lame but I didn't want to leave a Scot in a bind :)</FONT>
