PostgreSQL 8.1.2 for Fedora Core 4 from rpms.</FONT></DIV>

did a sort of half-a$$ed install (read that somethings installed and some
didn't), and began complaining about not having 8.1.1.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Everything I've read keeps coming back to build
from the source, but to do that, it appears that you cannot have installed
PostgreSQL from a binary rpm. It seems that you have to have built
PostgreSQL from a source rpm because it appears that I have to unpack the
tarball into a contrib source tree.</FONT></DIV>

from source, there seems to be some missing dependencies, from the other errors
I got. Rpm complained about geos and proj packages. Yum acted like
it went and got the geos and proj packages, then failed with the same missing
dependency for PostgreSQL 8.1.1.</FONT></DIV>
