<P><FONT SIZE=2>Depends what you are trying to do.  PostGIS has very primitive support for 3D.<BR>

1) 3D volumetric objects are not supported<BR>

2) 3D non-volume are supported partly -- e.g. a 2D polygon in 3 d space, a line, point in 3d space.<BR>

3) Spatial relationships however only really consider the spatial component of the x, y plane.<BR>

And work is going on in general to expand the PostGIS underlying geometry structure to support more types<BR>
