I get it! The following query works:<br>
<br>
SELECT gid FROM salzburg WHERE ST_Contains(the_geom,
ST_PointFromText('POINT(1451405.4004687 6071678.9812547)', 900913));<br>
<br>
The problem was that point coordinates must be in meters (because of
the google projection) and not in lat/lon values.<br>
<br>
