<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff

PostgreSQL 8.4 instead of something newer like PostgreSQL
9.2.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff

year time (July 2014) <A

<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff
size=2 face=Arial> so in a year or so you'll probably want to upgrade
again so you can keep security patches up to date.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff

<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff
size=2 face=Arial>That said -- going from 8.1 to 9.2 is the same amount of work
as going from 8.1 to 8.4, so you might as well go all the way or as far as you
can since the hardest part is the dump reload.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff

<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff
size=2 face=Arial>I also wouldn't bother with going to 1.5 since to go from 1.5
to 2 series requires another dump reload. Go straight to 2.0 or 2.1 when
it comes out (which will be in a week or so) if you
can.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff

<DIV dir=ltr align=left><SPAN class=722005503-17072013><FONT color=#0000ff
size=2 face=Arial>If its because of the distribution you are using why limit
yourself? I would highly advice using the yum.postgresql.org repository: <A

they've got the latest PostgreSQL and PostGIS that money can't buy and keep up
with patches :)</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
