Hi PROJ people.

Two years later, let me update about the CRS Explorer.

The first thing is that it is under the PROJ ecosystem in
https://crs-explorer.proj.org/
We moved the repo to the "OSGeo" entity in GitHub. Thanks Kristian for
suggesting it and Even for the help during the process.
If you still have an old link, it should be redirected to the new URL.

The latest improvement (merged this week) is the ability to use an older
version of PROJ (since 8.2.1). It uses the feature that "old" data is in
GitHub, and access it via a git tag. For instance South Korea changed the
names of their systems in PROJ 9.3.0, but not the numbers. You can check it
with EPSG:4737 or EPSG:5193

The search box now works with numbers, assuming they could be also EPSG or
ESRI codes. And allows "|" as an "or" operator. For example
https://crs-explorer.proj.org/?searchText=5193%20%7C%204737&authorities=EPSG&activeTypes=GEOGRAPHIC_2D_CRS,VERTICAL_CRS

You can select a different provider for the map tiles. OpenStreetMap
default uses the "native" language to name the countries and cities... and
I had problems to read them in non-latin alphabets. Now you have it also in
German and English.

I tried to make the page load faster. It adds to the DOM only what has been
selected (more or less).

I hope it is useful to some of you. Dealing with users from several
countries I am using it in a daily basis.

Bonus Track: Did you know the differences among these 4 CRSs?
https://crs-explorer.proj.org/?searchText=ETRS89%20UTM%2032N%20-dref91&authorities=EPSG&activeTypes=PROJECTED_CRS
(Hint: 32 thousand kilometres is not a short distance ;) A user selected
the wrong one (but "similar" name)... and the data was faaaar away.

Cheers,
Javier.
