The ISO Geodetic Registry<br>

The ISO Geodetic Registry is a structured database of international<br>
coordinate reference systems and transformations that is accessible<br>
through an on-line registry system at<br>

<br>
The main purpose of the Registry is to serve as the primary source for<br>
authoritative information on reference systems and transformations that<br>
can be used not only by end users but also other registries, including<br>
the ubiquitous EPSG registry. Unlike many other registries, the<br>
information contained the ISO Geodetic Registry has been either directly<br>
entered or approved by the agencies responsible for defining and<br>
maintaining the reference systems and transformations. The ISO Geodetic<br>
Registry is not meant to compete with or replace other registries but,<br>
rather, to complement them as an authoritative source for their content.<br>

The ISO Geodetic Registry also supports the implementation of the Global<br>
Geodetic Reference Frame (GGRF) under the auspices of the UN GGIM<br>
Sub-Committee on Geodesy. The GGRF Implementation Plan has recommended<br>
the use of the ISO Geodetic Registry as the authoritative source of<br>
information on geodetic reference systems and transformations in order<br>
to foster the interoperability of geodetic data and products among UN<br>
Member States.<br>

This Registry is provided under the auspices of the ISO Technical<br>
Committee on geographic information/geomatics (ISO TC-211) and conforms<br>
to the ISO standards on spatial referencing by coordinates (ISO<br>
19111:2007) and geodetic registries (ISO 19127:2019, ISO 19135-1:2015,<br>
ISP 19135-2:2012). In the near term, it is planned to bring the<br>
Registry's data model into conformance with the new ISO 19111:2019<br>
standard in order to properly represent modern reference systems such as<br>
dynamic reference frames and geoid-based vertical datums. A number of<br>
additional enhancements will improve the user interface. Information<br>

As specified in ISO 19135-1 and ISO 19127, a Control Body composed of<br>
geodetic experts nominated by the members of ISO/TC 211 is responsible<br>
for approving the content of the ISO Geodetic Registry together with the<br>
authoritative sources of the information. The Control Body is chaired by<br>
representatives appointed by the International Association of Geodesy,<br>
presently Michael Craymer as Chair and Larry Hothem as Vice-Chair.<br>
<br>
The contents of the Registry may be freely browsed by the general<br>
public. Comments on the Registry and its contents can also be submitted<br>
using the Registry's feedback link at the top of every Registry web<br>
page. Authorities wishing to submit their own reference systems and<br>
transformations can register for an account to do so. The Registry also<br>
provides a web service interface, allowing geospatial software to query<br>
and retrieve information from the Registry's database.<br>
