I agree with you that the use of an ensemble is by far the most problematic aspect of the label WGS84. However, if we try to teach people to use another label, we should use the opportunity to stress that WGS84(G1672) is the reference frame of just one of the
GNSS in the world, owned by a specific country. Not the best, nor the worst. I<span style="font-size: 12pt;">f you want to avoid politics, it is better to use a neutral reference frame. So use ITRF2014, not because the UN recommends it, but because it is the
most neutral choice.</span></div>
