Hi Paolo, Alexander,

the versions I'm using here is:

# texi2pdf -v
# texi2dvi (GNU Texinfo 4.13) 1.135

# tex
# This is TeX, Version 3.1415926 (TeX Live 2009/Debian)

# Sphinx 1.1.3

I will add version numbers in docs also.

Running on Ubuntu Oneiric laptop here, all software vanilla from 
packagemanager of ubuntu. For what I know, Otto and Larissa also 
building pdf's (?? on Suse I think) and looking at: 
http://documentation.qgis.org/pdf/ there is also building of pdf's on 
the server.

I'm not familiar myself with the errors in the log of Alexander ( can be 
downloaded from http://www.duif.net/buildlogs.tar.bz2 for anyone 
interested to help ), but maybe you can try to update tex/texi2pdf?
