This is all 'general sphinx work'. As Jeffrey uses some i18n plugins and 
another theme etc, which I'm not familiar with yet, I do this on the 
docs site.

And while Jeffrey and Eva are busy with some wireframes etc, I do not 
want to change things in there.

Nope, that is a translation of the rst files from earlier.
The (pink?) footer and the menu
     QGIS Home
     Documentation
     Community
     Development
Should change

If you translate this one:
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/blob/master/i18n/it/LC_MESSAGES/sphinx.po

and commit before the build, you should see it in italian also :-)
