IMHO conf and Make should be independent across website/manual, as the
build process is quite different, and should be done at different
schedules.
Searches should also be independent (if I want an explanation, I
search through the manual, not on the web site, and vice versa).
The last option looks best to me.
I agree keeping at hand just the latest version of the manuals is a
better option.
