ja, es ist natürlich ungünstig, dass beide Veranstaltungen am selben Tag sind,

Schon in Dresden hatten wir mit den Leuten vom Geonetzwerk metropoleRuhr des RVR
aus Essen gesprochen, und es wurde klar, dass dort nach dem letztjährigen
Anwendertreffen der Bedarf nach einer Fortsetzung heran gewachsen ist. Diese
Veranstaltung wurde eher als QGIS-Austauschtreffen der Verbandsmitglieder des RVR
geplant, aber wir hatten vereinbart uns über die Termine auszutauschen.
Grundsätzlich befürwortet der Verein regionale Treffen von QGIS-Anwendern, da
wir uns davon dank kürzerer Wege einen breiteren Austausch, häufigere Treffen
und dadurch auch einen Zuwachs der QGIS-Gemeinschaft versprechen. In der Tat
hatten wir eine solche „Regionalisierung“ Anfang des Jahres im Vorstand
bereits diskutiert und über Möglichkeiten, häufigere regionale Treffen zu
initiieren nachgedacht.
Der QGIS-DE e.V. ist bei der Planung und Durchführung von Anwendertreffen auf
die Unterstützung von größeren Institutionen mit entsprechender Ausstattung
angewiesen. Neben den Hochschulen kommen dafür vor allem größere Verwaltungen
in Frage. Der RVR hat im vergangenen Jahr dankenswerterweise das QGIS
Anwendertreffen ausgerichtet. Da sich für dieses Jahr auch andere Bewerber als
„Austragungsort“ bereit erklärt haben, wollten wir die Hilfsbereitschaft des
RVR nicht überstrapazieren und haben der TH Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Detmold den
Zuschlag für das diesjährige AWT gegeben.
Die Anwendertreffen haben in den vergangenen Jahren immer im September
stattgefunden. Bei diesem Termin wollten wir bleiben. Die Semesterferien der von
uns angefragten Hochschulen enden allerdings früher als gedacht, so dass für
die Ausrichtung des diesjährigen Anwendertreffens lediglich die KW 36 (2.9. bis
6.9.) infrage kam. Davor ist in vielen Bundesländern noch Ferienzeit. Danach
wären wir mit unserer Veranstaltung in den Semesterbetrieb gekommen, was von
Seiten der Hochschule ausgeschlossen wurde.
Mit der "Save the Date"-Meldung im Newsletter des Geonetzwerk im April 2019 gab
es dann eine Anfrage an QGIS-DE e.V. hinsichtlich einer möglichen Partizipation
in Form eines Vortrags über die Vereinstätigkeiten des QGIS-DE e.V. und ggf.
weiteren Vorträgen. Leider fiel der Veranstaltungstermin in Gelsenkirchen
ausgerechnet auf unseren mittlerweile festgelegten Termin an der TH OWL in
Detmold.
Um das Problem etwas zu entschärfen, habe ich dem Geonetzwerk Kooperation in der
Weise vorgeschlagen, dass wir gegenseitig auf die andere Veranstaltung hinweisen,
damit sich jeder Teilnehmer frei entscheiden kann, und um zu signalisieren, dass
wir nicht konkurrieren sondern uns gegenseitig erweitern. - Die QGIS Community
wächst nun mal. - Deshalb auch das Angebot, vom/zu QGIS-DE e.V. in Gelsenkirchen
einen Gastvortrag zu machen, wobei natürlich völlig unklar war/ist, wer das
dann machen kann.
Die Formulierung "unter dem Label des QGISde Anwendervereins" und die Art der
Verwendung des Vereinslogos sind allerdings dennoch etwas unglücklich, erwecken
nun einen etwas falschen Eindruck und waren so nicht abgesprochen.
Dennoch finde ich es absolut positiv, dass unabhängig von QGIS-DE ein weiteres
Treffen zum Thema QGIS entstanden ist! Dass alles auf den selben Termin in einer
Region gefallen ist, ist wirklich dumm gelaufen und soll nicht wieder vorkommen,
ist aber auch keine Katastrophe.
