I'll try to take another look at your branch over the weekend or next  
week. I'm glad you were able to solve the scaling issue in the legend.  
That will be a great improvement. I don't know if your code fixes will  
have relevance in any of the main branch code. I recall Tim having  
some of these types of scaling issues in his Quick Print core plugin.  
Maybe there are some hints there.
