[Qgis-developer] adding encoding file

Hi all,

What do you think about adding capability to read optional cpg (code-page) file
to automatically determine encoding? Sort of like a prj file, but for
encodings. ESRI software uses *.cpg file for this purpose and we
could've make use of that too.

Switching back and forth from one encoding to another can be tiring
and this happens a lot with Cyrillics, well at least in my case :)

And yes, we can work on adding that if devs give green light.
