Hi Juergen,

I just tested d5431b3 and I think there is a regression in functionality. 

I used to be able to load a PostGIS layer that contained both polygon and multi-polygon features. Now the geometry type is set to polygon only, and I don't see the multi-polygon geometries. Unless I use the API I have no way to see these multipolgons at all now.
