[Qgis-developer] direct mdb read in QGis?

Hi all, 
a little up to this thread as I just discovered that GDAL 1.9 can be
compiled with mdb access:  http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_mdb.html
http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_mdb.html . 
anyone has tried it?
