[Qgis-developer] Merging of incompatible changes

Hi All,
a user point of view: 
Go ahead, but advertise us! Thoses changes sound good. 
+ 1 for Larry's proposal of separating Qsettings versions, since we all
spend some time running 1.8 AND master on the same machine and same user ...
