You request geometry (by not saying you don't want any) - and get refused
because there's none.

myLayer.getFeatures(QgsFeatureRequest().setFilterFid(myFid).setFlags( QgsFeatureRequest.NoGeometry ) )

should work.  Not really a bug, but inconvienent.
