[Qgis-developer] Handling event in overlap widget scenario in Qt

Here is my problem:
    I am trying to develop a mobile application using Qt and QGIS. I am
trying to implement zoom action on qgsmapcanvas. Right now, I have a
qgsmapcanvas and a qwidget. I have developed the code for zoom action on the
qwidget. And I am considering to overlap the qgsmapcanvas and qwidget by
making one of them to be the parent of the other one. However, by doing
this, the qwidget is not able to receive any touch event anymore. Anyone has
an idea how to solve this problem?

Any help is appreciated.
