I just uploaded a patch to add style layer descriptor support for wms layers in qgis. The patch includes the following:<BR>
<BR>
Support for style layer descriptor url.<BR>
Support for style layer descriptor inline. (sld_body parameter in wms).<BR>
Changes to add layer from a server dialog to allow to write an sld url and a sld body.<BR>
Changes to save and read the sld url and sld body in qgis project.<BR>
Added a new tab in wms layer properties dialog named sld to allow change sld url and sld body.<BR>

I did some simple tests with geoserver and mapserver wms.<BR>
