What do you think about adding capability to read optional cpg (code-page) file<br>
to automatically determine encoding? Sort of like a prj file, but for<br>
encodings. ESRI software uses *.cpg file for this purpose and we<br>
could've make use of that too.<br>

Switching back and forth from one encoding to another can be tiring<br>
and this happens a lot with Cyrillics, well at least in my case :)<br>
