<p>I agree that an RSS feed would be more appropriate than an announcement on either the developer or user mailing lists. But also then, the RSS feed should contain more than just the plugin name and link to be useful.</p>
<p>You are also right, that the QGIS plugin manager already contains a list of new plugins - and dev/users can search on the plugin website.</p>
<p>Moving the plugin approval notification mail to qgis-user would probably annoy even more users than on the qgis-developer mailing list and would probably result in a lot of unsubscriptions.</p>
<p>So +1 from me to get rid of these messages. There are enough ways to stay informed about new plugins (the plugin manager and the plugin webpage). If that's not enough, the RSS feed idea or the QGIS blog would be a better place to publish information on new plugins and their major updates.</p>
