<p>If you have a .pgpass file it may take credentials from the .pgpass file.</p>

<p>Not sure what you mean "from the system" - you mean the credentials from the operating system? Yes - this is another fallback mechanism - but it depends how you configured your PostgreSQL access controls.</p>
