<p>Hm - I seem to have the same issue. Once the "News feed" is disabled I can't seem to get it back. Regardless of the setting in the "Options" --> "General" --> "Show QGIS news feed on welcome pate" dialogue.</p>

<p>That part of the start screen never comes back.</p>

<p>There is something odd with the news feed section on the start screen.</p>
