@PSC Could we get a final word on the guidelines proposed by Kurt so that I can update the website? Can you add it to the agenda for the next PSC meeting?

Thanks

Regards

Tim

>> Just a reminder, most European trainings are made via universities or dedicated funding entity that have their own certification process. They don't recognized any validity to the QGIS.org <http://qgis.org/> certificates. So the value of our certification program is a delicate balance between recognizing a quality of contribution for a trainer, which is worth if trainees choose them instead on that criteria, and the administrative burden for the trainer. Not speaking of universities that don't have any budget available for buying the certificates.

Just bear in mind that as the certification expands fewer and fewer of the companies applying for certification will be known to the core community. That leaves us with the issue of how to verify these companies - and reviewing training materials might be a good way to do it. Also bear in mind that Kurt, myself and others involved in setting up the programme are volunteers and don't have time to undertake anything too onerous to make the certification programme work. Your message takes the conversation back yet another notch from ‘we don’t want to SHARE our materials’ (thread started by Nathan and Nyall) to ‘we don’t want anyone to SEE our materials’. Isn’t it reasonable even in your situation to show Kurt examples of materials from your previous courses even if they will be different in the next course? I think we could also safely assume that in cases like your organisation, the review process would be a formality since you are well known contributors to the project and I think we could reasonably waive even the request to review previous materials in cases such as yours.
