Hi

@Luigi I know there are efficiencies and collaboration opportunities by combining hack tests with other OSGEO projects but IMHO we should not try to do it too often because from past events I would say that it tends to reduce the size of the QGIS participants and adds a lot of distractions from our core focus of hacking on QGIS.

So we have a firm offer for Madeira it seems. ----
Hello Lene Fisher, my name is Sara Freitas and I work in the area of
management and construction of geographic databases at the Institute
of Forests and Nature Conservation of the Autonomous Region of Madeira
(Portugal), it is with great interest that I follow the evolution of
the QGIS program.

Finding myself currently in transition process between geographic
information systems (Geomedia / QGIS) and geographic database
management programs, I had training with Giovanni Manghi at PostGIS
and was enthusiastically informed that we could promote one of the
QGIS working group meetings in our Region.

Considering that the presence of the working group in our region would
be an added value to the dissemination and evolution of knowledge
about this tool in our community, in partnership with colleague Duarte
Costa, we would like to propose our region to host one of your
meetings in 2018.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira bases its economy on tourism and
services, being well prepared to receive this type of event, and
offers excellent conditions to associate a leisure program of great
quality. Its greatest limitation is reflected sometimes in the cost of
transport which may be positioned above other destinations, but when
planned in a timely manner is easily overcome, receiving direct
flights from various European destinations.

In order to carry out our proposal, we inform you that we already have
the support of the Order of Engineers that made its facilities
available at no cost. Thus, we already have a room available to
accommodate about 50 people in conference mode (only seats) or 24 in
working group mode (tables and chairs), internet network, self service
cafe and sanitary facilities in a central location in the city of
Funchal, allowing you to travel on foot from anywhere in the city and
at any hour. We also have received support from several elements of
the local GIS community.

We are sure that after confirming the acceptance and date to the
event, we will secure many more support to provide a good work and
social program.

Hoping that our offer will meet your interest, I await your response.

Best regards

Sara Freitas
