Hi PSC, Hi Larry,

There was a question in the community list about Section 508 compliance.

This is about accessibility support in the software - I believe that in the US, government has to buy or acquire such 508 compliant software (at least in theory) - or when there is not a fully compliant software available, use the one software that supports accessibility the best.

Should QGIS.ORG do something about this? It is probably a lot of effort to be 508 compliant and potentially also expensive. Larry, do you know if Boundless is doing something about 508 compliance?

See also 508 compliance statements at ESRI: http://www.esri.com/legal/section508

or a VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) declaration for ArcGIS: http://www.esri.com/~/media/Files/Pdfs/legal/section508/vpats/arcgis-1051-for-desktop-vpat.pdf

What are your opinions?

Greetings,
Andreas
