Looks like they are charging membership fees … why don’t you write
to them and propose they include <a href="http://QGIS.ORG"
class="" moz-do-not-send="true">QGIS.ORG</a> as an affiliate
member (for free). I think this is definitely the kind of
strategic direction <a href="http://QGIS.org" class=""

rightful place as an industry leader….

I was also reading up the membership structure, and was thinking the
same as Tim, I guess the companies should decide for themselves if
they want to be members but we definetly should try to get QGIS.org
there.

<div class="">Plus then we can have pictures of Paolo and Jack
shaking hands and who knows maybe one day ESRI and QGIS will
co-exist in a world where the projects are friends, sharing
code, standards, and cool marketing gimmicks. We can dream
right? :-)<br class="">

I see were you are going Tim, the panel comment that ArcGIS cannot
open QGIS projects really hit you ;)<br>

<p class="">Hi all,</p>
<p class="">Jeff and Maria from Osgeo recently drew my
attention to:</p>
<p class="">===<br class="">
</p>
<p class="">during the UN-GGIM Forum in New York, Jack
Dangermond announced the birth of WGIC, which is a
Council of industries (<a
class="x_moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="https://wgicouncil.org/"
moz-do-not-send="true">https://wgicouncil.org/</a>)
operating in the geospatial sector. At the moment
there are no FOSS4G members and the members are all
giants of the geospatial world. I wonder if it could
be worth your presence there or you believe that it
is useless or unfeasible. My comment is that this is
something that has to be discussed, independently of
the result of the discussion (if being involved or
not; if being involved as a single company or as a
network of companies)</p>
<p class="">===</p>
<p class="">whereas some QGIS-friendly companies could
evaluate their individual participation to it, it
might also be feasible to participate as QGIS
(perhaps representing all companies involved).</p>
<p class="">Anyone interested?</p>
<p class="">All the best.<br class="">
