Dear Mr. Gaspar,

my name is Jana Michalkova and I am a PhD student in the Department of
Geography and Applied Geoinformatics at the University of Prešov in
Slovakia. I am working now on my dissertation which deals with Open Source
philosophy and institutional concept of quadruple helix (in terms of
interaction of four actors - academia, private sector, public sector and
civil society).

I am a big fan of Open Source and I have also some experiences with working
in Open Source community as one of the QGIS translators. An inspiration for
the design of my research has given me a participation in the International
QGIS Conference in Denmark in 2015 which for the first time ever has
brought together developers and users of QGIS. Here I was able to see
important role of this software as a tool for connecting such heterogeneous
actors (of quadruple helix).

For this reason I have decided to explore a space of openness and dynamic
relationships just among different members of QGIS user groups worldwide.
That is because, in my opinion, they present examples of good practice that
might be able to further define and set conditions for my proposed
conceptual framework of the quadruple helix based on Open Source.

In this context, I have allowed to write you as a contact person of your
QGIS user group and at the same time I´d like kindly to ask you to take
part at this survey regarding the functioning of QGIS user groups.
Experiences, knowledge and practice with Open Source community from your
(your institution) point of view could be a significant and valuable asset
for my study.

The survey is available via the following link:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdvHCjotjEzdAqv2_Uc
lexBs7iCWtopoByQweSaaVS06fHkHg/viewform

It should take no more than 15 minutes to fill out it and all data will be
used solely for the purposes of thesis processing.

I would be very grateful if you could send the survey link to another
members of your user group (through mailing lists, social media, ...), of
course if it is no problem for you. It could be very interesting to get
opinions of different actors from your group.

Thank you very much in advance for your time and willingness to participate
in this research. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further
questions.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,
Jana
