 I do not think this is a packaging problem.  There is very substantial
 information posted on my web page
 http://homepage.mac.com/gregcoats/jp2.html including 7 sample pairs of
 JPEG2000 images, showing how they are improperly displayed by QGIS and how
 they appear when properly displayed.  QGIS version 0.8.0 properly
 displayed JPEG2000 images via JasPer and Kakadu.  The current QGIS does
 not properly display JPEG2000 when relying upon JasPer nor when relying
 upon Kakadu.  There is nothing wrong with JasPer or Kakadu.
