[Qgis-user] cannot create vector grip with ftools

I cannot complete the creation of a vector grid using ftools 0.5.10
Tools > Research Tool > Vector Grid.  All I get is a shapefile with 0
kb size.
Under Qgis 1.3.0 Ubuntu Jaunty
