According to Tim on IRC it may be related to vcredist
Please download and install ane let us know if it works.
This may be an issue we continue to run into until we manage to get
mingw builds working instead of visual studio.

Also, I get the question about GRASS on the machine that installed successfully, and then I just point it at the location of GRASS within the QGIS installation and it's fine. On the other PC it doesn't get to that stage, it fails with the error message before that.

>> Hi All,

The first installed just fine, asking me to uninstall the previous version first, and ran with no problems. The second, on the same make of pc and same operating system, seemed to install OK but failed to start from the shortcut or from double-clicking the exe itself, with the following error:
>> "C:\Program Files\Quantum GIS\bin\qgis.exe. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem".
>> Needless to say I have reinstalled the programme! I've also checked that I have enough administrative privileges to run it, and I've ensured that the setup files were on a local drive rather than a network drive.
>> I would like to search the forums for assistance on this, but right now I can't access them- though I'm not sure if that's an issue with my firewall.
>> I'm not sure where to start looking for more pointers on what has gone wrong with this- so any help resolving the problem would be greatly appreciated.
>> Many thanks for your help
